Delano leaving Las Vegas

31 October 2024

Delano Las Vegas will be gone before the end of the year. Plus, Bally's Las Vegas is set for a return to the Strip.

Plus, with the U.S. elections just days away, many people are wondering if they can bet on the results.

MGM Resorts has announced plans to rebrand Delano Las Vegas before the end of this year. The 43 story tower on the south end of the Strip will be renamed W Las Vegas. However, this is not the first name change for the building. It was originally known as THEhotel at Mandalay Bay before becoming Delano in 2014. The change from Delano Las Vegas to simply “W” is part of a significant collaboration between MGM and Marriott International, building on their long-term strategic licensing agreement established in July 2023. Steve Zanella, president of MGM Resorts operations, praised the partnership for exceeding expectations and creating new opportunities for luxury travel experiences.

The Tropicana implosion finally happened. Now, attention has turned to the building of the new Bally’s Las Vegas and the baseball stadium it will share a lot with. Bally’s just revealed their ‘master plans’ for the property which show three hotel towers being built at the same time as the new stadium. And while the name of the new resort has not been officially announced, what else could it be but Bally’s? Let’s remember that way it was back in October of 2020 Caesars Entertainment sold the Bally’s name to Bally Corp for $20 million. This was before anyone knew of Caesars plans to rebrand the property to the Horseshoe, and well before there was any talk of the Tropicana being leveled for a new stadium, yet here we are just four years later. So why would they shell out that sort of money if they did not plan to use the name?
